A Fast Recurrent Model for High-current PEM Fuel Cell Impedance

A novel method for calculation of PEM fuel cell cathode impedance from charge and mass conservation equations is developed. The catalyst layer separated into N sub–layers. Assuming that the steady–state variables along sub–layer are constant, linearized Fourier–transformed problem overpotential oxygen concentration perturbations solved analytically on a single sub–layer. solution leads to recurrent formulas expressing perturbation amplitudes left side through values its right side. Starting CCL/GDL interface, –fold application relations gives parameters at membrane surface, leading system impedance. Comparison spectra obtained using this technique with classic boundary–value whole CCL shows high accuracy already 10 applicable arbitrary current. advantage approach tenfold acceleration calculations.
